Center for Renewable Energy and Ecosystem Improvement (CREESI) Cameroon

Mission

We exist to prove the worth of our ideas by helping those in the rural communities to save our planet from future disaster through the use of sustainable techniques to manage our natural resources.

We are legally registered under the legal system of the Republic of Cameroon and we have been working in Cameroon for the past 3 years. It is with great pleasure that we come to PCIA asking for partnership. CREESI Cameroon trains youths who will help in the sustainable management of our ecosystem.

Youths are being trained in our center under the different areas as follows:
- Biogas systems development and installation
- Solar systems development and installation
- Biodiesel and ethanol production
- Organic agriculture including animal husbandry
- Sustainable building techniques
- Information and Communication Technology training.
We also create and support Green Campus Clubs in Secondary and High Schools Here in Cameroon

Our Experience And Interest In The Four PCIA Central Focus Areas

Social/Cultural barriers to using traditional fuels and stoves:

One of the cultural barriers we have in biogas is that most people look at it as a taboo to use human waste in farms. For cook stoves, some people believe it sends out mosquitoes from the house and for biodiesel, most people believe that it's just a waste of natural resources.

Market development for improved cooking technologies:

We strive to change mentalities of the local populations who represent about 70% of the populations in most sub saharan African countries. This poor layer of the society is primarily responsible for deforestation. We train youths in the construction of biomass economic stoves and send them to work in the suburbs providing them with the capital to function.

Technology standardization for cooking, heating and ventilation:

Our improved cookstoves are used in baking, drying, cooking and we also have solar seasoners for wood seasoning. Our rural hydro electrification project enables the poor rural communities to obtain electricity at a small scale.

Indoor air pollution exposure and health monitoring:

We send out volunteers and experts who sensitize the populations on the environment and good agricultural practices (GAP).

Our Contribution to the Partnership

We are working with communities and youths and believe in partnership. We can help to mobilize more of the youths and local populations to protect our environment through self developed projects.
