Our Experience And Interest In The Four PCIA Central Focus Areas

Social/Cultural barriers to using traditional fuels and stoves:

E+Co employs local investment officers who identify culturally appropriate and relevant investments and technologies. From a cooking standpoint, this generally involves local designs and tried and tested technologies. We are also working with international manufacturers of cook stoves to bring high quality technology into the market.

Market development for improved cooking technologies:

E+Co engages on a financial basis and on a consulting basis to help formalize business practices of enterprises pursuing commercial efforts in this arena.

Technology standardization for cooking, heating and ventilation:

We have not engaged on this topic, and have found that local, non standardized technologies are generally most appropriate.

Indoor air pollution exposure and health monitoring:

We monitor our investments through dedicated Monitoring & Evaluation Officers in each region that visit each investment twice each year to measure their progress on over 30 non-monetary indicators. Some of these indicators include health indicators, although it is not our primary monitoring activity.
