Joint Energy and Environment Projects

Mission

Our primary mission is to combat environmental destruction and promote efficient management of natural resources. Currently JEEP is working with FAO Uganda, Nordic Folke center for renewable energy and Energy North in Denmark on Environmental Conservation Projects.
JEEP has created awareness on environmental conservation to over 10 million people, constructed wood saving stoves in 50 institutions, and has helped thousands build energy saving stoves in their homes. JEEP has also represented the country in many international summits and advised policy makers on policies that help with environmental conservation.

Our Experience And Interest In The Four PCIA Central Focus Areas

Social/Cultural barriers to using traditional fuels and stoves:

Training is designed to ensure locally available materials (where applicable) and considers the language understood by the majority of participants as well as respecting social cultural norms of communities

Market development for improved cooking technologies:

Promotion of improved stoves has been an uphill task. This has been attributed to laziness of communities, improved stoves looked at as foreign technology, and lack of skilled labour.

Technology standardization for cooking, heating and ventilation:

Our technology standardization depends on modules developed by the ministry of energy. This means that we receive all our training there.

Indoor air pollution exposure and health monitoring:

Monitoring has been low due to limited resources but from our experience, the people who have taken up the technologies are willing to continue.
