To act as an extension centre for the Anna University in promoting energy and environment related studies and research 3. To offer post-graduate and research programmes in energy and environment related subjects 4. To provide industrial consultancy in setting up energy efficient systems and technology 5. To promote environment friendly energy technology 6. To act as a nodal centre for wind energy promotion in the country 7. To promote energy efficient cooking methodology for the rural population 8. To associate with national and international agencies and departments in the field of energy and environment such as Ministry for Non-conventional Energy Sources (MNES), Ministry of Environment and Forests (MNEF), State and Central Pollution Control Boards (PCB), United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) and the like. 9. To train academics, governmental and non-governmental organizations (NGO), students and public in sustainable energy and environment development 10. To organize regional, national and international conferences /seminars / workshops in the areas of energy and environment 11. To offer short – term courses in energy and environment related fields 12. To take up government and private funded research projects in the field of energy and environment 13. To bring out publications in the field of energy and environment 14. To organize competitions among students and public for promoting the cause of energy and environment 15. To receive and utilize funds from any reputed agency for research, development and promotion in any of the areas mentioned above 16. To interact with organizations of similar nature in promoting the cause of sustainable development in energy and environment. 17. To serve as a nodal centre for implementing government programmes in the field of energy and environment. 18. To provide an incubation centre for promoting entrepreneurship in energy and environment related technology 19. To innovate and patent environment friendly technology for industrial development and pollution abatement 20. To cater to sustainable livelihood development of the local population.
