Our Experience And Interest In The Four PCIA Central Focus Areas

Social/Cultural barriers to using traditional fuels and stoves:

The four central focus areas are addressed by our company in a specific manner:
•Meeting the needs of local communities for clean, efficient, affordable and safe cooking and heating options through wood charcoal stoves, both individual and where possible communal usage;
•Improving cooking technologies with wood charcoal fuel stoves and methodologies for reducing indoor air pollution through heat dissipation and smoke dispersion via hoods using natural draft stack effects;
•Developing commercial markets for clean and efficient technologies and fuels through development of a variety of wood charcoal stoves including individual and where possible communal kitchens, where time on stove is paid by user in cash or kind, which can be very efficient in terms of collective fuel used and mitigating air pollution in individual homes;
•Monitoring and evaluating the health, social, economic and environmental impact of household energy interventions through double blind experiments using washable and reusable mouth and nose filters to mitigate against particulate ingestion.

Market development for improved cooking technologies:

Our company's interest in market development is focused on making wood charcoal fuel and appropriate cooking appliances available through a rational distribution channel that does not depend on informal production of charcoal that greatly affects deforestation and is very inefficient in terms of fuel production.

Technology standardization for cooking, heating and ventilation:

Our company is keenly interested in technology standardisation through rigorous application of appropriate and relevant ASME, ASTM, CSA and API codes in manufacturing, quality assurance and consumer safety for all manufactured wood charcoal fuel cooking appliances, both individual and communal models.

Indoor air pollution exposure and health monitoring:

Our company, with full time in-house statistician resource is interested in monitoring the expected positive effects of washable and re-usable mouth and nose filters that would mitigate ingestion of particulate matter and have the side benefit of assisting public health program delivery, especially in times of H1N1 flu epidemics.
