Our Experience And Interest In The Four PCIA Central Focus Areas

Social/Cultural barriers to using traditional fuels and stoves:

It has participated in the implementation of many rural energy projects, which has effectively alleviated rural energy shortage and eased farmers' efforts to collect and carry fuel wood. The implementation of these projects has effectively protected the grassland and forest and guaranteed the effect of "grain for green" policy. The extension of rural energy technologies such as biogas technology has integrated agricultural production with husbandry raising and integrated environment protection with farmers' income increase.

Market development for improved cooking technologies:

CSTD has close contacts with industrial entities and it encourages the commercialization of renewable energy technologies.

Technology standardization for cooking, heating and ventilation:

CSTD has formulated and issued a great variety of standards on biogas, micro-hydro and small wind.

Indoor air pollution exposure and health monitoring:

It has also contributed to farmers living environment improvement and has made it cleaner and warmer. It enabled many rural women to use high efficient fuel and freed them from smoked and terribly hot cooking conditions and relieved their housework burden.

Relevant Publications or Studies

CSTD has aimed to promote technical application and extension in rural China. It has regularly published Agricultural Science and Education Developments and also established Agricultural Science and Technology Development website. Its participation in Agricultural Science Spanning Plan Project, National Key Technology R&D Program, Post-subsidy Plan, 948 Program and Agricultural Restructuring Projects has enable it to be fully aware of agricultural development needs.

Our Contribution to the Partnership

CSTD has accumulated rich experiences in renewable energy project management and can provide consultation advices and information services for the project. Its well-established contact network with local renewable energy management departments shall ensure the implementation of field studies and other case studies.
