ENPHO is a service oriented scientific NGO established in 1990 that envisages contributing in sustainable community development by combining research and action thorugh integrated programs in the areas of environment and public health. ENPHO's mission is to develop and promote appropropriate technologies to enable socieities to become eco-friendly. ENPHO has 73 members, 40 staff and a well equipped laboratory that has been accredited by the Nepal Bureau of Standard and Metrology. The Lab has produced various Field test kits and is involved in conducting regular monitoring of air quality and water quality. In the area of household energy, indoor air pollution and health, ENPHO is working with the Alternate Energy Promotion Centre of the Government of Nepal to conduct an evaluation of improved cook stoves and their impact on indoor air pollution and health.

ENPHO is primarily working in poor communities in urban as well as rural areas of Nepal. Most of our initiatives are focused on household and community level but we also work at the national and occasionally international level. Besides Nepal, ENPHO has provided some training in India, Bangladesh and Laos on household water treatment.
Our Experience And Interest In The Four PCIA Central Focus Areas
ENPHO has a resource centre that works with local communities on education and advocacy campaigns.
Although ENPHO has not yet been involved in market development for improved cooking technologies it has been involved in market development for other technologies such as Kanchan Arsenic Filters and other household water treatment options.
ENPHO specializes in developing and promoting appropriate technologies.
ENPHO does air quality monitoring as well as health assessments.
