Our Experience And Interest In The Four PCIA Central Focus Areas

Social/Cultural barriers to using traditional fuels and stoves:

Ugandans use biomass fuels and are reluctant to adopt other souces of energy. However we are advocating and telling them to use energy saving stoves. We have developed a kitchen stove which friendly to use and easy to manage and reduces energy loss considerably.

Market development for improved cooking technologies:

Senstisation and use of public media is the trick. We do carry out sensitisaton of rural communities and other stakeholders and performing practicals. We do give out free kichen stove services to those who finish training without missing a day.

Technology standardization for cooking, heating and ventilation:

We use appropriate technology whereby we do improve the existing technology.

Indoor air pollution exposure and health monitoring:

We have field staff who keep visisting the our areas under study so that at the end of one year we are able to do evaluation.
