GEO's mission is to facilitate one million good stoves in different parts of india (if possible in other developing countries too), in partnership with community, support organisations and funding agencies. Knowledge dissemination on good stove technologies through websites created. GEO has developed 40 good stove designs including 25 natural draft and forced air top lit updraft gasifier stoves and shared them as "Open Knowledge", about 500 people are accessing the web links every day from different parts of the world. GEO wishes to create more such useful resources and disseminate knowledge for communities to adopt. GEO has Plans to help 100000 peoples improved health through Indoor Air Quality in two years.
Our Experience And Interest In The Four PCIA Central Focus Areas
GEO has experienced that because of existing diversities of spatial-temporal, environmental, social, cultural, economic, etc., the stove designs should be clean, efficient, affordable cost and be able to meet the local needs. In this regard there is a need to understand the regional and local needs first and based on the local strengths and resources the good stoves are designed. The independence of using all types of biomass fuel in a stove gives freedom to the user, rather creating specific stoves for specific fuel. The recent stove design "Magh 3G stove" http://e-magh3g.blogspot.com/ is being highly adopted by the communities on demand basis.
GEO encourages and involved in developing local enterprises with involvement of local people, including artisans, women and youth to sell and provide maintenance service and monitoring of good stoves. Production enterprises are established by training artisans and local community.
Efficient technologies have been developed to meet the requirements of different strata (socio-economic) in the habitations. With feed back from community and the scientists the improvement in technology is being achieved. Kitchen Performance Test, Water boiling test and Kitchen Survey's are done for designing the stoves and improving the performance and efficiencies.
The local community leaders are being trained for monitoring the performance of stoves and extend maintenance service for improvement of the stove performance.
