WorldStove

Mission

We at WorldStove Corporation are committed to creating useful and innovative products that increase quality of life for individuals and households around the globe. Although the world's environmental, economic, and health problems may seem overwhelming, we stand with those who understand that real solutions can be achieved in a series of incremental changes. These changes require both the will and the technical competence to move ahead. To this end, many noble and committed organizations, groups, and individuals have been working to develop small cook stoves as one part of that change. We recognize that in order to make a difference we must think beyond building efficient stoves. It is necessary to have a strategy promoting: adaptation of fuel efficient cook stoves; creation of economic opportunities for participating households; and development of community capacity to continue to innovate on an environmentally friendly trajectory.

Our Experience And Interest In The Four PCIA Central Focus Areas

Social/Cultural barriers to using traditional fuels and stoves:

We at WorldStove Corporation are committed to creating useful and innovative products that increase quality of life for individuals and households around the globe. Although the world's environmental, economic, and health problems may seem overwhelming, we stand with those who understand that real solutions can be achieved in a series of incremental changes. These changes require both the will and the technical competence to move ahead. To this end, many noble and committed organizations, groups, and individuals have been working for five years to develop small cook stoves as one part of that change. Stoves designed and tested by a multidisciplinary team with expertise in: mechanical engineering; sound, safe, super-efficient design industrialization; able to be mass-produced, life-tested, safety certified plant sciences; a cook stove with measurable carbon sequestration art and design; attractive, user-defined color cultural anthropology; and accommodates cooking customs economic development. Potential revenue for household and community.

Market development for improved cooking technologies:

We recognize that in order to make a difference we must think beyond building efficient stoves. It is necessary to have a strategy promoting: adaptation of fuel efficient cook stoves; creation of economic opportunities for participating households; and development of community capacity to continue to innovate on an environmentally friendly trajectory. Our model is a multi-step process to increase a household's economic stability and decrease the impact on the environment. Produce stoves that facilitate various cooking styles; promote adoption; provide stoves functioning at 90+% efficiency with region-specific feedstock (80% or higher with non-optimal feedstock) Create economic savings for household; upgrade stoves incrementally increasing efficiency; additional savings and features provide micro-financing for pellet mill; and revenue for community & increases stove efficiency use biochar to enrich soil and provide seedlings for better feedstock.

Technology standardization for cooking, heating and ventilation:

The LuciaStove can be adapted to a variety of cooking environments including: buried in the ground; built into masonry counters; used as a stand alone unit; and used as a grill. Accommodating multiple cooking set-ups increases the likelihood of adoption by diverse households and communities in both urban and rural settings. This small cook stove has been refined based on data from pilot programs and the industry standard safety testing for high-end home cooking appliances. Proprietary parametric technology allows the LuciaStove to be fine-tuned for specific biomass. This means the stoves can be modified to operate at 90+% efficiency using the most common biomass available in a particular region.

Indoor air pollution exposure and health monitoring:

At this time monitoring is only done in our lab duing life testing and safty certification procedures. We learned of your organization when we began to search for a way to do field testing.
