Our Focus

Primary Initiatives, Target Populations, and Scope of Work:

Communities we are reaching in these countries are the rural dwellers, some who still live in huts built with mud and thatched roofs and living in many cases below $1 per day income. Due to funding challenges, our activities has been limited to engaging the communities in awareness programmes on health hazards due to their living habits and generally enlightening them on better living habits and standards.
We are targeting a first delivery of better life products like solar powered cookers by the end of this year.

Our Experience And Interest In The Four PCIA Central Focus Areas

Social/Cultural barriers to using traditional fuels and stoves:

In Angola, language barrier hasbeen a major contention and we have been engaging interpreters on part time basis until a time a permanent assisstant can be engaged. As an African by birth, cultural practices has not been too varied.
The Partnership Ideals are new to us but we like to embrace it, acquiant with it and become an agent in publishing it as we go along our awareness campaigns

Market development for improved cooking technologies:

This is a worthwhile project not just for rural dwellers but also for urban dwellers particularly in Africa. My parents were well read and profitably employed but the cooking smoke in our house all through my childhood days was harzadous to our health and it should be decried. Better ways promoted by this partnership also needs to be publicised more especially among the educated-illiterates. My Organisation will be well pleased to engage more in this activity.

Technology standardization for cooking, heating and ventilation:

This is a new area to us.

Indoor air pollution exposure and health monitoring:

A thick dense atmosphere rest permanently on the city of Lagos Nigeria while the residents are oblivious of it. They have completely aclimatised to air polution. It takes a visitor from a clean environment to appreciate this. The villages enjoy a cleaner and fresher air except that solid fuels cooking within their living quarters inhibits their benefiting from the better environment air.
