Mission

We are a new NGO and we aim to do some work in the Democratic Republic of Congo. We are looking for funders and parterns to develop our network in this sector. Some of our work will be in energy and rural development. We will also focus on small hydro power in rural areas. We will be doing research on household energy use in DR Congo.

Our Experience And Interest In The Four PCIA Central Focus Areas

Social/Cultural barriers to using traditional fuels and stoves:

This depends on the people of DR Congo, most of the people are using charcoal for cooking especially in urban areas.

Market development for improved cooking technologies:

There is a market for improving cooking technology but there are other problems which have hampered its development in DR Congo. Earning money to feed families is a priority. Currently, there is not much innovation in cooking technology.

Technology standardization for cooking, heating and ventilation:

In DR Congo many people in urban areas are using modern technology for cooking and heating. In rural areas most of the people use biomass for heating and cooking.

Indoor air pollution exposure and health monitoring:

Plan to address indoor air pollution in households and ways to reduce exposure.
