Women for Sustainable Development are currently working on two major projects: Bagepalli CDM Afforestation Programme, and Bagepalli CDM Biogas Programme. Both programmes are currently under validation as CDM projects, with CER income already secured for part of the CERs which will be registered under these projects. Biogas is very suitable as a technology for financing under CDM as the total project cost can be sourced from these funds - thus for once CDM becomes useful to the poor. We are looking for more buyers for our CERs - we have a capacity to build at least 6000 plants every year together with our partners Suma Khadi Gramodyoga Sangha.

Currently only India. But we are open to working all over the world. Our target proplation is mainly rural. Our projects are at the moment all in the region of 2 million Euro per Project.
Our Experience And Interest In The Four PCIA Central Focus Areas
As we work mainly in fuelwood scarce areas we find there are no barriers. We have 95% success rate with our biogas plants. We also have a scheme wehre we offer CERs at higher price and give people a cow too. In this way there is an additional incentive for switching to biogas as the cow provides draught power and milk.
CDM is a very strong focus of ours as we believe we can finance many thousands of plants under this scheme.
Deenbandhu model for cooking. No heating technologies currently being implemented. Windows for ventilation included in biogas programme (CER income is sufficient to cover this in some cases).
We have undertaken many studies.

Our Contribution to the Partnership
We can make our Afforestation and our Biogas PDDs available to others. We would like the opportunity to take up new projects in places or regions where people do not have our many years of biogas experience and expertise.
