Our Experience And Interest In The Four PCIA Central Focus Areas

Social/Cultural barriers to using traditional fuels and stoves:

For the poor people emissions from cooking fires/stoves using firewood/dung are "The killer in the kitchen"'.
Recent research has established that the non-poor living around or near the poor are also affected by the emissions emanating
from said firewood/dung cooking fires. So the non-poor have a direct interest in improving the quality of cooking of the poor.


Market development for improved cooking technologies:

We have tested our concept from 2003 through 2008 in Spain, The Netherlands and India, steadily improving performance and
user-friendliness based on steadily improved solar-energy materials. We intend to start test-marketing in India in 2009.


Technology standardization for cooking, heating and ventilation:

We have standardised our cooker concept for local assembly based on 20-year lifetime of components and materials.


Indoor air pollution exposure and health monitoring:

We have been following the research and testing of emissions emanating from household cooking fires on woodfuel, dung, coal
and other biomass cooking fuels and peoples exposure to them both indoor and outdoors.
