SENCICO

Mission

SENCICO is Peru's National Training Service for the Construction Industry (or "Servicio Nacional de Capacitación para la Industria de la Construcción" in Spanish). It was founded October 26, 1976 and is part of the Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation (MVCyS).

The Organization of SENCICO includes two main agencies:
• The Agency for Professional Training (the main activity of the institution) and
• The Agency for Research and Standardization (which began with the fusion of the ININVI with SENCICO in 1995)

SENCICO's Research and Standardization Agency is responsible for promoting, guiding and conducting scientific, technological, socio-economic and other research linked to the problems of housing and construction, as well as developing standards that govern the building design and technological development of their construction, to promote and disseminate the use of techniques and procedures that ensure lower prices, high quality and types of products best suited to the demands of Peru's national reality.

En el Organigrama de SENCICO, cabe destacar 2 Gerencias de Líneas
• Gerencia de Formación Profesional (Capacitación, principal actividad de la institución)
• Gerencia de Investigación y Normalización, se inicia con la fusión de ININVI al SENCICO en el año 1995.

La Gerencia de Investigación y Normalización es la dependencia encargada de fomentar, orientar y ejecutar investigaciones y trabajos científicos y tecnológicos, socio-económicos y de toda otra naturaleza, vinculados a la problemática de la vivienda y la edificación; así como elaborar normas que regulen el diseño de las edificaciones y el desarrollo tecnológico de la construcción, con el fin de promover y difundir los procedimientos y uso de técnicas que aseguren el abaratamiento, calidad y los tipos de productos más adecuados a las exigencias de nuestra realidad nacional.

Our Focus

Primary Initiatives, Target Populations, and Scope of Work:

SENCICO's Research and Standardization Agency is responsible for addressing the Supreme Decree 015-VIVIENDA/2009, where SENCICO must implement the Laboratory for the evaluation and certification of improved stoves. SENCICO has:

• Built two laboratories for testing and a display area of the tested stoves.
• Developed the Rules for Evaluation and Certification of Improved Wood Stoves in line with the international protocols of Shell Foundation and Aprovecho Research Center) for evaluation.

To date SENCICO has 22 stoves assessed and certified and is currently doing field work, including Kitchen Performance Testing (KPT) and Controlled Cooking Testing (CCT). SENCICO certifies stoves for the national "Half Million Stoves for a Smokefree Peru" campaign.

A esta gerencia se encarga atender el Decreto Supremo 015-VIVIENDA / 2009, donde SENCICO debe implementar El Laboratorio para evaluar y certificar las cocinas mejoradas.

• Se ha construido en SENCICO los Olivos 2 laboratorios para ensayo, una área de exhibición de las cocinas ensayadas.
• Se ha elaborado El Reglamento de Evaluación y Certificación de Cocinas mejoradas a leña que cuenta con protocolos internacionales (Shell Foundation, Aprovecho) para la evaluación.

A la fecha contamos con 22 cocinas evaluadas y certificadas y estamos haciendo trabajos de campo (KPT Y CCT). SENCICO hace la certificacion de cocinas mejoradas como parte de la campaña nacional "Medio Millón de Cocinas Mejoradas por un Peru sin Humo."

Our Contribution to the Partnership

SENCICO evaluates and certifies improved stoves for PCIA Partners in Peru, and also presented/shared its knowledge with Partners during the 2011 PCIA Forum in Lima.
